Part 1: What is a VA?
Well officially the abbreviation VA stands for Virtual Assistant, however, that topic is still up for debate (in my books). While nothing is wrong with the term assistant I don’t know if it truly captures the real meaning of a virtual assistant.
I was first introduced to the term about 3 years ago while I was working for a not-for-profit association. One of the chapters was in need of some administrative assistance. They were all professionals with already busy lives dedicating what was left of their free time to running this chapter. Unfortunately, that didn’t include the admin tasks that were required to make the chapter run smoothly.
So started the search for an Administrative Assistant and they found one but it wasn’t until after a few email communications with her did it piqued my interest. When I Google searched her, her business information came up and I was instantly fascinated. What do you mean you can be an Administrative Assistant from home? Be your own business entity, c’mon you’re kidding me!!!???
With this new information in my possession, I started my investigation and research about this possible new career for myself…
